Random thoughts about my long road trip

Monday after school, me and my mom set off for a seven and a half our drive to Louisville, Kentucky. I was going to visit the University of Louisville for the first time. I've never been there so I was really excited. My mom got sick half way there, so i had to drive 200 miles on the same road, which was not the funnest thing to do. After 4 hours of driving, we decided to stop at a hotel to rest. My mom and I were really scared because we didn't know the area and don't really like hotels, but we made it through the night!
We woke up at six the next morning to finish our trip. We ended up in traffic for quite a while, so we ended up being around twenty minutes late for the tour, but we didn't miss much. The campus was really nice and everyone I talked to from there seemed to really love it. The building were really old looking, but not actually old. The campus was really big which is what I also really liked about it. I really enjoyed the trip and the school, although it is extremely far away from home. We traveled through Wheeling and Cincinatti the most which was also really cool to see different parts of the area that I've never seen before. The rest of the way home I mostly slept.

Rainy days

Boots are the most common shoe being worn these days by woman. I mentioned earlier how combat boots were in, but there's also an even newer trend. Rain boots. They're being worn every day with casual outfits. I see a lot of black rain boots being worn especially. Their are major designers that are making rain boots now like Coach, Michael kors, and even Ugg.

I mentioned how girls don't wear uggs alot anymore, but I have seen more of the ugg rain boots now. They don't wear the wool uggs as much, but rain boots sure are getting super popular. Personally I went out last weekend to buy a pair of rain boots from Michael kors that just came out, but they were already sold out. So if you're a girl and looking for something new, definitely go for rain boots!

Cheerleading Championship

Last Thursday, my cheerleading squad set sail for the annual National High School Cheerleading Championship held in Didney World. We've been working since this past summer to get a routine and compete locally, all leading up to this. It's my senior year, along with 5 other girls, so it was a really exciting thing, but also really sad. On Thursday night, we went to a luau. There was a bunch of Hawaiin dancers to perform for us while we ate their amazing food. Everything they served had some kind of pineapple sauce or flavor to it, which was different than what we normally ate- but so delicious.

On Friday, we woke up at 6:00 to go to practice. After that, we spent the rest of the day laying out at the pool and then visited the new castle in Magic Kingdom. The next two days were it- the championships. Saturday morning we went to prelimary rounds, and thankfull made it to the next round. Semi finals were later that night, which made the day go by really far. When they came to announce who was going to finals, they announced us last, so we all thought that we weren't going. It was probably the worst, but best, moment of my life.

On Sunday morning, we performed at a new championship called World Cheer. It's basically the same thing, except teams from China and Canada come to compete against you as well. By only .4 points, we came in second place. It was an amazing feeling. At 6:30 that night, we performed at finals. We got 9th in the nation, which is what we got last year as well. It was such a happy day for me and my squad and I'm really glad my senior year went the way it did with cheerleading.

Pinterest talks about social media

After looking through Pinterest and the different pictures about social media, there's much more going on than I thought. I found pins that explained who uses social media, what social media sites are the most popular, and even how where people live affects what social media networks they use. Most adults think social media has taken over and think it's bad for kids, but it's surprising to see how many adults and companies use social media. Companies now know that if they make a twitter or Facebook page, they will get followers and gain customers. 80% of companies use social media to find out who their competitors are. Social media isn't going to go away in the future, it's only going to get more popular. One big trend I found was jokes about how often twitter is used and how many tweets people make during one day.
One many advantage of social media is the communication that can get across that couldn't be done in person. You can find out so much information over social media. A disadvantage though is that social media can get people into a lot of trouble if they post the wrong thing, because so many people can see it. I think the benefits of social media in a classroom is that you can communicate so much better with people you don't know even outside of a classroom. The future of social media for students in high school and college is only going to spread wider throughout schools. Personally, I've seen people for the first time in my life but already knew their name because of social media, so obviously it's getting more popular than some would think. I think it's a good thing for meeting people, especially in college.
